Contact UsA staff accountant is the first finance hire most US teams outsource nearshore, and it is the role where the published rates are furthest apart: from roughly $2,300 a month in Latin America to $8 an hour offshore, against a US equivalent well above both. We opened all 14 vendor sites on September 14, 2026 and recorded what each one publishes about the role, rate, replacement, vetting, hours of overlap, and what each one leaves blank.
Four rules, and the second is the one that keeps this list from repeating other people's stale numbers:
Of the 14 staff accountant outsourcing providers audited, five publish a rate, ten publish a replacement policy, and four publish how many hours their accountants overlap with US business hours.
Narrower than a controller, wider than a bookkeeper, and the band where published catalogs are deepest. The reason the role gets opened is almost always the month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, the checklist, with AP and AR alongside it, though several vendors price that as a separate and cheaper role. Reconciliations are where tool experience matters most, which is why the catalogs worth shortlisting name NetSuite, QuickBooks, BlackLine and FloQast on the role page rather than in the pitch.
Above that sits reporting support: preparing the schedules a controller reviews, not signing off on them. And underneath all of it is the line that actually separates this role from a bookkeeper, applying US GAAP. That is the one to test in the interview rather than trust from a CV.
Six questions, and the first two make comparable what today is not.
Five of the fourteen publish a rate. The rest quote after a call, which is itself a comparison point.
Published rate means a number exists somewhere on the site, not that there is a full rate card. Five of the 14 publish one.
vintti.com
Places staff accountants nearshore under two separate models. In staffing you pay a monthly fee per hire and Vintti manages the contract, payments and compliance through third-party payroll services, with unlimited replacements for the life of the engagement. In direct recruiting you employ the person and pay a one-time placement fee. The published process is broken down by day and ends in a shortlist of three to five vetted candidates.
What they publish
Not published: a public rate card and, as of this audit, the replacement policy is not stated on the website.
southoffices.com
Every one of its 15 role pages is an accounting role and the declared buyer is small and mid-sized US accounting firms. Screening is CPA-led. It is the only vendor here that commits to US-aligned hours as a percentage rather than as a time difference, and the one that publishes the least about commercial terms.
What they publish
Not published: pricing, replacement policy, client count, case studies and reviews.
maviwork.com
Covers the whole finance function, from reconciliations and close through modeling and forecasting, and rejects the recruiter and BPO labels: it matches companies with independent professionals under a single monthly fee. Two hubs, Latin America and APAC, so it is not a LATAM-only bench.
What they publish
Not published: the monthly fee, headcount and any third-party review rating.
latamcent.com
The deepest finance catalog in the region: 47 role pages grouped into core accounting, FP&A, controllership, tax and finance operations, with candidate profiles that name the tools and the standards, NetSuite, SAP, BlackLine, FloQast, US GAAP, ASC 606, SOX. The ICP is stated as exclusive: US-based B2B SaaS and AI companies.
What they publish
Not published: any fee for any of the four models, and headcount.
hirewithnear.com
One of the most complete commercial disclosures here, published vetting stages, published review scores on two platforms, published timelines, across five service lines, with Finance & Accounting as one of eight departments. Read the employment question carefully: its own site answers it three different ways depending on the page.
What they publish
Not published: the placement fee and the staffing percentage.
hireinsouth.com
The most granular public rate card in the category: 385 roles with a LATAM all-in monthly rate attached, with accounting roles from about $2,300 for AP/AR to $7,800 for an FP&A manager and a controller at $6,525. Worth checking against its savings claims, the site advertises 30% to 80% while its own rates imply 24% to 54%.
What they publish
Not published: headcount and founding year.
howdy.com
Holds employment contracts through its own entities in the region and includes equipment and workspace in the fee, disclosed as a percentage split, 85% to the professional, 15% to Howdy, without an absolute number. Its center of gravity is engineering: Finance and Ops is one of seven solutions and the accounting role pages are short.
What they publish
Not published: any absolute price, a client-facing replacement guarantee, hours of overlap and headcount.
lathire.com
Positioned as a marketplace you can browse before committing, with an average all-in monthly cost published up front and contractor-of-record handling included. Finance and accounting is one of nine verticals. Read the numbers carefully: the talent pool appears as 800,000+ on one page and 10,000+ on another, and the trial is described three different ways.
What they publish
Not published: the direct-hire fee, founding year, headquarters and placements.
cadencia.io
One country, one city, and formal employment on its side: Cadencia employs the person in Mexico and the monthly fee covers salary, benefits, taxes and paid time off. It recruits to order rather than from a bench, which is why its timeline is the longest here at 4 to 5 weeks.
What they publish
Not published: any replacement policy, client or review counts, and hours of overlap.
wowremoteteams.com
The most explicit about what each model costs and who is responsible, staffing, staff-to-hire and direct hire published side by side with starting hourly rates by category. It is the only vendor in this list that publishes its US overlap as a range with the competing regions next to it. The ceiling is seniority: the catalog tops out at staff accountant and financial analyst.
What they publish
Not published: equipment, the replacement window in days, and any review count.
rosetalentsolutions.io
One price for any role, full-time at 40 hours a week, no setup fee, cancellable with 30 days' notice, with recruiting, vetting, payroll and replacement included. The accounting ceiling is stated plainly, the role is framed as feeding a CPA's work, not replacing a controller.
What they publish
Not published: countries of sourcing, headcount, placements and the platform behind its 4.8 rating.
somewhere.com
A large placement operation with a real finance and accounting category and landing pages built for CPA firms. It is not a LATAM vendor: Latin America is one of three regions alongside the Philippines and South Africa. That shapes the pitch, it does not position against Asia, it sells Asia.
What they publish
Not published: the monthly on-demand fee and any review rating or count.
These source in Asia. They are in this comparison because that is the decision most US finance teams are actually making, and because two of them publish rates that anchor the conversation.
acculinkcpa.com
Publishes both an hourly rate and a role-differentiated overlap figure, and quantifies its vetting, rare on both counts. Staff work from company offices rather than from home, presented as a data control argument. Watch the timelines: four different times to hire appear across the site.
What they publish
Not published: the corporate headquarters address, the locations page returns a 404.
toaglobal.com
Eleven years serving only the accounting industry, with company-owned offices in four Philippine cities plus a division in Cape Town. It publishes annual cost per role, a junior accountant at about $24,000 against $54,900 for a US hire, but inside its savings calculator, not as a rate card.
What they publish
Not published: replacement policy, days to first candidates and hours of overlap.
We break down the trade-off between an offshore seat and a nearshore hire in Vintti vs TOA Global.
Five of the 14 publish a number and they are not comparable without normalising first.
Against a US staff accountant, published vendor comparisons put the equivalent north of $54,000 a year before loaded costs. The honest saving where both numbers are published is 24% to 54% by seniority, narrower than the 30% to 80% most sites advertise.
Three arguments, and only the first has published numbers on both sides. The LATAM vendors that quantify their overlap publish full US business hours, a zero to two hour difference, or six to nine hours of daily overlap; the offshore providers that quantify it publish three to four for non-client-facing work. That difference decides more than it looks, because the close is synchronous work: a staff accountant asks questions while it is happening, and in a three-hour overlap those questions queue until tomorrow.
The third argument, cost, is the one usually overstated. Asia is cheaper per hour and the published rates show it. The gap between LATAM and Asia is smaller than the gap between either of them and a US hire.
Region is not a country: one of these four matches US Eastern exactly and another shares US Central.
Country choice interacts with the employment model, our guide to hiring employees from abroad walks through what changes per country.
Published timelines run from a 3-day shortlist to a 5-week start date, and what differs is what each vendor counts as onboarding.
Ask who owns the relationship after the start date. Most staffing vendors assign an account manager to you and an HR contact to the person; marketplaces assign neither.
For this role the model matters more than for a bookkeeper, because the work carries judgment and judgment compounds with one person.
For a staff accountant the model matters more than for a bookkeeper, because the role carries judgment. A person who sits in your close and learns your chart of accounts compounds; an assigned seat resets when the assignment changes.
Five patterns that showed up in this audit, all visible before you sign:
The rate a provider quotes is a markup on a salary, so the benchmark is what tells you whether the markup is fair.
If the scope you described is above or below a staff accountant, these are the adjacent hires:
If you are still deciding the model rather than the provider:
All of it sits under one question, whether to hire Latin American talent at all. That decision, and what it costs, is the rest of this site.
Most LATAM staffing vendors source from all three. The ones that publish a staff accountant rate are HireInSouth, with a per-role card covering 385 positions, and LatHire, with an average all-in monthly figure. Cadencia sources only in Mexico. LatamCent, Near and Vintti cover all three markets without publishing a rate card.
Published all-in monthly rates start around $2,300 for an AP/AR specialist and reach roughly $3,500 for a senior accountant in Latin America. Offshore hourly rates start at $8. Only five of the 14 providers publish any figure; the rest quote after a first call.
Yes, and the honest range is narrower than the marketing. Where a vendor publishes both its LATAM rate and the US equivalent, the implied saving is 24% to 54% depending on seniority, against advertised claims of 30% to 80%.
Applies US GAAP. A bookkeeper records transactions and reconciles; a staff accountant prepares journal entries and accruals, owns pieces of the month-end close and produces the schedules a controller reviews. Several vendors price the two separately, and the difference in published rates is roughly $700 to $1,200 a month.
Four possibilities, and it is the field most often answered inconsistently. You employ directly under a recruiting model. The vendor employs through its own local entities. A third-party EOR employs on the vendor's behalf. Or nobody does, because the person is engaged as an independent contractor. Get it in writing: two vendors in this list publish more than one answer on their own site.
Published shortlists land in 48 hours to 7 days and published time to hire runs 16 to 21 days. The outlier is the vendor that recruits to order without a preset bench, at 4 to 5 weeks. Treat shortlist time and time to hire as two separate questions.
Four regimes across the 14 providers:
Ask for the clause in writing with the window in days.
In staffing and recruiting models, yes, you receive a shortlist of two to five candidates and you run as many interviews as you want. In seat subscriptions and managed accounting services the person is assigned. That difference is part of what the price difference reflects.
Four of the 14 publish a number. The LATAM figures are full US business hours, a 0 to 2 hour difference, or 6 to 9 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern. The offshore providers that quantify it publish 3 to 4 hours for non-client-facing work and 6 to 7 for client-facing.
Yes, and it is worth verifying rather than assuming. The catalogs with real depth name the tools on the role page, NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, BlackLine, FloQast, and the standards, including US GAAP and ASC 606. Ask for two anonymised profiles with the systems listed.
The ones worth shortlisting say so on the role page and screen for it. One vendor runs CPA-led screening on technical accuracy; another names ASC 606 and SOX in its profiles. Test it in the interview with a close scenario rather than trusting a line on a CV.
Hours, and for close work the hours are the whole argument. Nearshore means Latin America for a US buyer: same or near-same business day. Offshore usually means India or the Philippines, with 3 to 4 hours of overlap and the rest asynchronous. Offshore is cheaper per hour; nearshore answers questions during your close.
Hire the person when you have a controller who can direct the work and a close that needs capacity. Outsource the function when you have neither. The vendors in this list do the first; the BPO and managed accounting providers do the second, and you do not pick the people.
Some can. Check the role catalog rather than the services page: one vendor here publishes 47 finance role pages and another publishes one. Watch what payroll means in the proposal, vendors use it for running your company's payroll and for handling their own hire's payroll.
Four numbers and one document. The numbers: all-in monthly cost for a staff accountant, days to first candidates, days to hire, hours of overlap. The document: the replacement clause with the window in days. A provider that cannot produce those on a first call has not decided them.
Depends on the vendor. Some provide and own the equipment; one includes a secure laptop and IT setup inside its fee; several publish that they coordinate equipment without saying who pays. Ask who replaces a failed machine and how fast.
Yes, if the relationship is structured properly. The risk is misclassification, treating someone as a contractor when the relationship functions as employment. The clean structures are your own local entity, a staffing provider that contracts and pays the person, or an employer-of-record. An informal direct contractor arrangement for a full-time role is the one to avoid.
Multiply the hourly rate by about 173 hours for a full-time month, and confirm what is included. Monthly all-in figures in this list cover compensation plus the vendor fee in one invoice; hourly figures sometimes exclude equipment, benefits or the setup fee.
At the published LATAM rates, providers typically present two to six years of relevant experience, frequently with prior US client exposure. Above roughly $3,500 a month you are into senior accountant and controller territory, where the bench is thinner.
Several vendors publish a path for it. Terms vary and most do not publish the fee, so ask for the conversion clause before signing rather than when you want to use it.
Every figure is on a provider's own site. The published rate cards, which are the hardest numbers in this category to find, are here:
Two references worth reading before you sign:
The rate spread in this role is wide because the scope is elastic: AP/AR processing and close ownership are priced as the same title. Fix the scope first, then ask the four questions that make quotes comparable, all-in monthly cost, days to hire, hours of overlap, and the replacement clause in days.
