The Challenge

We Heart Nutrition has always taken a thoughtful approach to growing its team.

For Jacob Willis, CEO and co-founder, hiring isn't something the company does simply because there is more work to be done. Each new hire needs to solve a real business problem and bring enough value to justify becoming part of the team.

“We've always been slow to add on to our team because I would rather address a problem and why it's a problem than just make a hire just to have someone take care of that.”

Eventually, the company's creative needs reached a point where an additional team member was necessary.

“When it gets to the point that you're like, ‘Okay, this—we're not doing this well. We're dropping the ball on it or we're not maximizing the potential of it.’ That's when I look for an outside hire.”

The challenge was finding someone who could work within the company's established brand while bringing enough creative ability to help the team scale.

More Than a Graphic Designer

For We Heart Nutrition, the position required more than technical design skills. The company's brand is highly personal to its founders, and Jacob wanted to maintain control over its overall direction while finding someone who could independently execute within that vision.

“Our brand is very personal to us. So there's certain areas where we want to be the main person behind it or the driver of kind of the direction of that.”

At the same time, there were areas of the business where the team needed additional creative capacity.

“We wanted to find talent that could definitely meet our vision or our aesthetics.”

The ideal candidate therefore needed to understand the difference between simply producing designs and actually understanding the brand behind them.

“We're not just looking for a designer who knows how to ask Canva for 50 different designs for an ad set or whatever, but we're looking for someone who actually understands the aesthetic and that type of stuff.”

That distinction became one of the most important parts of the search.

Why Latin American Talent Made Sense

Jacob knew there were talented designers around the world who could potentially meet the company's creative requirements.

But hiring internationally also raised practical questions around communication, time zones, and collaboration.

“We knew that there's people all around the world that probably have the talent set. But obviously, time zone comes into play. You prefer not to be on a completely opposite time zone of somebody and just be able to have kind of those interactions, language barrier, that type of stuff.”

Latin America offered a solution that checked several of those boxes.

“When I first heard about Vintti and the idea of Latin America, I was just like, oh, that checks off a lot of the boxes for not having the language barrier, and the time zone is relatively the same as the States.”

For We Heart Nutrition, the nearshore model made it possible to expand the talent pool without introducing unnecessary friction into the team's day-to-day collaboration.

Success Story

A Fast, Low-Lift Hiring Process

When the time came to make the hire, Jacob wanted the process to be as efficient as possible.

As a founder, adding another long series of calls, interviews, and decisions to his schedule wasn't appealing.

“It was great. Very streamlined, a very low lift for us, which is always, when you're a founder, you're trying to minimize the number of calls you have to be on, the number of decisions you have to make.”

After an initial conversation about the role and requirements, Vintti turned those needs into a clear candidate brief.

“They completely understood, wrote the brief up. We said, ‘Yep, that looks great.’ And then within a week, we had some candidates to review, check out the videos, interviews of, and that type of stuff.”

Three candidates were ultimately presented for the Graphic Designer position.

One immediately stood out.

“With the designer, there were three presented and we selected one, and I think we felt really strongly about that one... something about the one we picked just jumped out to us immediately.”

The entire process took just 15 days.

A Hire That Exceeded Expectations

The real test came after the hire.

We Heart Nutrition initially brought the Graphic Designer on part-time to support the team with video editing and creative production, particularly by creating variations of ads for Meta and other digital platforms.

As the company's advertising efforts grew, having someone who could efficiently produce more creative variations became increasingly valuable.

“Honestly, the quality of the hire that we got has already exceeded our expectation.”

What started as a part-time role quickly became more.

“Honestly, we brought her on part-time, and we're already asking her like, ‘Hey, can you go full-time for us?’”

The hire was not simply filling a gap.

She was creating additional capacity for the company to experiment, produce more creative, and scale its digital advertising efforts.

“As you're growing on your spend on Meta or digital platforms, the number of variations of ads you can create can really determine how quickly you can scale. And so that has been an amazing add for us.”

Four months after the hire, the relationship was already exceeding the expectations Jacob had going into the process.

The Result

We Heart Nutrition found its Graphic Designer in just 15 days.

The successful hire brought the technical ability the company needed while also fitting into the brand's creative vision.

For Jacob, that combination was critical.

The goal wasn't simply to find someone who could design.

It was to find someone who could understand the brand well enough to become a genuine extension of the creative team.

Four months later, the hire had already exceeded expectations—and the company was considering expanding the role from part-time to full-time.

Why We Heart Nutrition Chose Vintti

For Jacob, the experience stood out because Vintti made the process simple without sacrificing the quality of the candidates.

The team translated the company's requirements into a clear brief, presented relevant candidates quickly, and handled the recruiting process with minimal effort required from the founders.

Most importantly, the process gave We Heart Nutrition access to talent that could fit not only the technical requirements of the role, but also the company's brand and way of working.

For a founder who is intentional about every addition to the team, that made the difference.

The result was a fast hire, a strong creative fit, and a team member whose contribution exceeded expectations from the start.
